Tacharikkal Amman Charitable and Educational Trust is formed to serve the members of the society in all walks of life. The main contribution of the founder of the trust prior to its inception was in the field of Education. He used to reserve ten percent of his income to help the poor and meritorious students. As the demand is more and the fund available is meager, he thought it is expedient to create a trust involving other generous people to take part in his mission through their contribution however small it is. As drops of water make the mighty ocean, small contributions when pooled together will enable us to help more and more deserving people.
Our slogan is All Karmas, end up in knowledge and there is nothing sacred than knowledge. Ultimate knowledge make men purified and contribute for the development of good society.
There is a small incident to start the trust. The founder of the trust being an advocate visited Chinthamani in Karnataka to identify some land for his clients for the purpose of starting a school. He was accompanied by his colleague Adv.S.Gopal and his friend who is a lecturer in a Govt. College. On their way back to Bangalore they visited a Temple in Kaiwara and after Darsan in the temple, came out and thought of quenching their thirst. They approached a tender coconut vendor who was boy aged about seventeen and suddenly the lecturer identified him as his student in the previous year. He inquired him why he is vending coconuts though he has secured 84% marks for the PUC exam. He told the lecturer that he is from a poor family and though he got admission to college through CAT(Common Admission Test) his family is finding it difficult to find out means for funding his education. The trust within a week from the date of formation could help three poor and meritorious students who scored 94%, 82% (Both SSLC) and 84% (PUC) during 2009-10.
Tacharikkalamman Charitable trust is also interested in promoting ancient temple arts and other art forms. It intends to encourage artists for preserving the perishing ancient arts. As a fist step, a documentary on padayani is being made.
