Thacharikkal temple is situated at the middle of pristine Ponthenpuzha Forest which is continuation of Sabarimala forests. The name of the hamlet is Alapra which is about 40 KM east of Kottayam. This temple is now getting attention all over the world due to the performance of Padyani, an ancient ritualistic festival lasting for 7 days every year. This festival is celebrated during March/April every year. Kerala Govt. has granted Padayani Gramam(Village) status to Alapra.

CULTURAL AND LITERARY ACTIVITIES OF THE TRUST
The trust is giving training in different classical musical instruments; dance etc. to the genuinely interested and talented boys and girls. Training is imparted to the interested persons in percussion instruments used in temples such as Chenda, Thimila etc. Trust provides opportunities to the students/artists to take part in short films and documentaries produced by the trust.
The trust intends to provide platform for the artists/writers to showcase their talents. For this purpose, the trust has formed a Cultural wing KALARANGAM BANGALORE under the commandership of Mr.Murali.S, who is a renowned singer in Bangalore. We invite artists/writers to register their names with the Kalarangam Bangalore, to take part its activities.
Kannada writers forum of the trust is headed by Mr. S.Gopal BA.LLB who has got accolades as a poet from Bangalore advocates Literary Union.
